Spring Term BGA Meeting - PowerPoints, Zoom Recording and Resources

There was a good representation of governors and trustees at the Spring Term BGA briefing on Thursday 11th March. Once again, as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions, the meeting was a virtual one hosted via Zoom.

Richard Ainsworth welcomed attendees and speakers and offered congratulations to the trustees at the Vision Multi Academy Trust upon their award of the Governors for Schools Quality Mark for good governance.

Executive Director for Children and Young People, Sheila Durr, gave the first presentation and opened by thanking governors and trustees for their hard work in Bury's schools. She went on to describe the current priorites for the local authority and announced that the council had set a budget for her department and that a new director for Education and Skills had been appointed. Her name is Isobel Booler and she joins Bury from Manchester council in May.

Louisa Murphy gave the next presentation. Louisa works for the Cyber Crime Unit in the North West Regional Organised Crime Unit and she is also the Chair of Governors at St Margaret's CE Primary School in Prestwich.

The final presentation came from Dr Tony Breslin who outlined the findings from his recently published book, 'Lessons from Lockdown: The Educational Legacy of Covid-19'
