There was a good attendance for the Bury Governor Association's AGM.
The meeting heard from BGA Treasurer Elma Hoyle that the Association's finance are in a healthy position. A total of 68 schools bought into the BGA collaborative in 2018/19 and after the various items of expenditiure there is a balance of £27, 746 being carried forward into 2019/20. Members voted unanimously to retain the annual fee for BGA membership of £90.

The BGD Committee has been acting upon the feedback about the training venues and now, working in partnership with the Bury Teaching School Alliance, new schools based venues are being offered for training courses.
The National Governance Association have very recently released the revised versions of their skills audit forms and the matrix collection tool.
There are 2 versions - one for those who govern in single schools and one for those who govern in MATs or Federations.
Conducting an annual skills audit is a key part in developing your governing body to either identify gaps that can be filled with recruitment or to identify training needs.

There was a healthy attendance level at the Autumn Term briefing for Chair's in the Peel Room in the evening of Tuesday 3rd September 2019.
Paul Cooke chaired the meeting with presentations from Interim AD Julien Kramer and Wendy Jackson and Damian Kay from the Quality Standards and Performance Service.
Julien gave an overview of the work that he has been leading and is now waiting to see the impact of the revised schools-led governance model.

Please note that the newsletter indicates that training courses may be booked via the BEST Trust. This is no longer the case as the BEST Trust has withdrawn from supporting the BGD in the delivery of Governor and Trustee training.

Please note that in response to feedback that the afternoon sessions will now commence at 12.30 and will finish at 3.00pm, allowing governors/trustees with child care responsibilities to collect their children from school.
