Autumn Term Governor Training Programme

The programme for training for the Autumn Term has been agreed with new schools based training venues..

Please note that in response to feedback that the afternoon sessions will now commence at 12.30 and will finish at 3.00pm, allowing governors/trustees with child care responsibilities to collect their children from school.

NGA Leading Governance Programme comes to Bury

The NGA's Leading Governance Programme for Chairs will be delivered in Bury in partnership with BGD.

The 40 week programme will commence in October and includes 3 face to face seminars lead by an NGA consultant and hosted at Bury College. Details of the programme can be accessed on the link below:

Extraordinary Chairs and BGA Meeting

On Tuesday 9th July there will be an extraordinary meeting with Bury Chairs and the BGA to consider the future of governor training and development in Bury. The meeting will start at 7.00pm and will be in the Peel Room in Bury Town Hall.

Interim Assistant Director presents at BGA Meeting

Over 30 governors and trustees were present at the BGA meeting on Tuesday 11th June 2019 to hear the newly appointed interim AD, Julien Kramer, outline his vision for Bury and to answer questions. Julien informed the group that Bury is his 12th authority and that he considers himself to be a safe pair of hands. He stated that with governors' support his aim is to return Bury to its former leading status as an area. He believes that the fundamental pieces are in place for Bury to make that journey.

BGA Summer Term Briefing

The Summer Term BGA Briefing is taking place in the Peel Room in Bury Town Hall at 7.00pm on Tuesday 11th June 2019.

With growing pressures on school finances Steve Goodwin, the Head of Finance for Childrens Services, will be giving an update and answering questions.

Positive Feedback from BGA Spring Conference

Bury College proved to be an excellent venue for the 26 Bury Governors/Trustees who attended the Spring Conference on Saturday 27th April.

BGA Chair Richard Ainsworth gave the welcome and outlined the struture for the conference.

Judith Hicks from the NGA gave a presentation on recruiting, appointing and retaining governors and gave an overview of the Inspiring Governance Governor Recruitment Service. This is free to schools and academies. The PowerPoint presentation that Judith used can be accessed on the link below:
