It is with great sadness that the BGA must report the death of Gordon Hubert. Gordon has been a loyal champion of education and governance in Bury for over 50 years, serving on both the BGA Executive Committee and the Bury Governance Development group until ill-health forced him to step away from the roles. Gordon is pre-deceased by his wife Wendy, also a passionate advocate for children and education in the Bury area.
Gordon will be missed greatly by his colleagues on the BGA and our thoughts are with his daughter Helen, the headteacher at the Derby School, at this sad time.
The BGA thanks Laurie Bullas for sharing this sad news. We have also now been advised of the arrangements for Gordon’s funeral. The committal will be at Radcliffe Crematorium at 12.30pm on Tuesday 4th April and this will be for family and close family friends only. There will then be a celebration of Gordon’s life at Whitefield Methodist Church, Elms Street, Whitefield M45 8GQ which will commence at 1.30pm. This will be followed by a reception at Bury FC at Gigg Lane.
